My Dearest Blog Stalker,

I am your number one fan! You made my day! I am so happy! Thank you so much!

This is what went down:
A few weeks ago I posted a picture and a link to an amazing pair of socks. The coolest socks I had ever seen. Without much thought, I sent a plea into cyberspace asking for somebody to buy me those socks. Just a joke, right? Well, gentle readers, read on!

Today I walked out the door after church and immediately spied a small package sitting on my moped. The last time a package was left on my moped, it was just somebody's garbage, so I braced myself for disappointment. I got closer and picked up the package, a small box wrapped in plain brown paper with my name neatly printed in capital letters. Oh my! For me? I looked around but didn't see anybody who looked like they left it.

I wish words could make you feel how I felt as I tore off the wrapping and opened the box. It was a thrilling combination of excitement, curiosity, and full-blown mystification. Kind of what Christmas would be like if Santa Claus came for the first time when you were already an adult: Please imagine walking into your living room on an ordinary school- or work-day only to see the room full of presents. Totally unexpected, because Christmas doesn't exist. I bet your thoughts would follow something along the lines of What the!? How did this get here? Who left this and why? Is there some mistake? Do I need to change the locks?

That's basically how I felt holding that little brown box in my hands. Except for that last bit about needing to change the locks. Because I was in a parking garage. Get it? Right, okay. Moving on.

So I opened the box and found...drum roll please...the coolest socks ever! And a note! I'll show you the socks first so you can immediately begin to absorb their overwhelming magnificence.

Downright marvelous, if you ask me. The note was difficult to read because I was in the middle of freaking out with joy, so I had to read it about three times before I understood anything. Bonus points for the mysterious ransom-note style typeface.

So, my darling blog stalker, you got me. I am thoroughly impressed by how thoughtful and sweet you are. I don't write this blog for anyone's amusement but my own, really, and I have an audience of about four. At the most. Two of those live on the mainland and probably wouldn't fly out to Hawaii just to leave a package on my moped after church. Especially without saying hi to me, since one of them is my brother. [Consider yourself the victim of a two-dimensional shoutout, Nic] My Nancy Drew sleuthing skills lead me to believe that my beloved blog stalker is either Alicia or Beth.

So here's to you, blog stalker, whether you are Alicia, Beth, or some other anonymous reader! Thank you for the killer socks. Thank you for the fun/sweet note. You made my day, really you did. You've also inspired me to keep a closer eye out for opportunities to make those around me smile. If I can make somebody else as happy as you made me, I would be one lucky girl.

Plus ten karma points for you. Plus one pair swell socks for me.
